JOIN THE FIGHT to end generic drug shortages and skyrocketing drug prices. CONTACT your senators and representatives and tell them to REPEAL the GPO Safe Harbor and STOP GPO kickbacks.
In fact, the bill that would accomplish that was drafted in 2005! Click HERE. If it had been enacted then, there would never have been any drug shortages.

*Important Note: On November 15, 2012, then-Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA, now senator) and five other Democratic members of the Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter to the Acting Comptroller General of the United States asking the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct an investigation into the role of GPOs in causing the drug shortages and the deadly fungal meningitis outbreak. [Click HERE to read their letter]. The GAO's report was expected in the fall of 2014. The five other signers were: Henry Waxman (CA, since retired), John D. Dingell (MI, since retired), Frank Pallone Jr. (NJ), Anna G. Eshoo (CA), and Diana DeGette (CO).
Tragically for patients, providers, and taxpayers, the powerful GPO lobby derailed the GAO investigation. This industry knew that it could not survive an thorough, independent investigation. The GAO report that was issued in November 2014 had nothing to do with drug shortages.
